Moving to Utah - NP Visit

Ok I know we moved to Utah several months ago but I just got the pictures organized. Here are some of the National Park pictures for Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. As I mention before, Veronica and I are trying to visit all of the National Parks so this knocks another one off the list. Eventually I will tally up how many we have been to.
You can see these and all of our NP pictures over at www.DinoJim.com/US.htm

Here I am walking Twix and Aikman down to the beach.

Twix looking at the nice water.

Presenting Our New Dog - Jackson

Ok, so we went to buy dog food the other day and they happened to be having what they called a "Super pet adoption". I thought they could fly or something. I was apparently wrong. But anyway by the time I locked the car Veronica was already in the middle of a swarm of puppies.

Well I saw this one puppy that looked so sad in his cage and he was the same puppy they had up for adoption over a month before. Well we ended up taking the dog for a walk and I still felt really bad for him because he was 7 and it was likely he was not going to get adopted. So we decided to take him home. Well afterwards I found out he was in a foster home at the time so I felt less bad than before.

Well now that we have him home. He seems to be slowly adjusting. He is much higher energy than either Twix or Aikman so it is a big adjustment for us all. Twix still is not sure what to do with him. She is the alpha of the family but Jackson is trying to take over so Twix is very unhappy. But hopefully she comes around soon.

Dino Pic of the Week, for the week of Sept 14th, 08'

This picture was taken at the Museum of Science at Boston, MA. The T-Rex is on the floor below in the dino section but you can get a pretty cool view of it from the upper floor.

Geology Fun Fact - For the Week of Sept 7th

As with my dino pic of the week I started this a while ago on my website and it kind of fell by the wayside. Well I hope to start it up again. This will be my "Geoact" (A.K.A. Geology Fun Fact). Then I will also compile all these on my Geoacts portion of my website.

Dino Pic of the Week - For the week of Sept 7th

I figured since the title of my site is "Dino Jim" I should actually represent some dinos. Well I am starting a Dino Pic of the week segment here on my blog. The pictures will also be compiled on a webpage on my website DinoJim.com.

This picture was taken outside of the dinosaur ride in the Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The dino depicted is the same one from Disney's Dinosaur, the Iguanodon Aladar

Fall 2008 TV Preview

Wahoo!!! It is finally time for my shows to come back. Some not since the writer's strike. So here is the breakdown of the shows I am looking forward to. All times are EST even though I am in Utah and none of that seems to matter here. This list is for me mostly so I can keep everything straight.

Monday

8 – Chuck (Sept 29th) Love this show
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Sept 8th) First season was not bad, will see what they do from here

9 – Heroes (Sept 22nd) Love this show as well
- America’s Toughest Jobs (Until Sept 15th) Been watching it so far and it seems pretty good

10 – My own worst enemy (Oct 13th) Looks like it has potential

Tuesday

8 – House (Sept 16th) It has it's moments and last season was one of them, lets hope the keep it up

9 – Fringe (Sept 9th) I like J.J. so I will give it a shot
- The Mentalist (Sept 23rd) Another crime drama? We'll see.
- Greek (Aug 28th) The funniest show from last season, I love it.

10 – Eli Stone (Oct 14th) Probably the best show that started last season and one of my favorites. I'm glad it is back.

Wednesday

8 – Knight Rider (Sept 24th) The movie was pretty good and it does take me back

Looks like DVR catch-up night is Wednesday, thank Comcast for the DVR

Thursday

8 – Ugly Betty (Sept 25th) Not for me but I have to remember to DVR it for the wife

9 – Grey’s Anatomy (Sept 25th) It started off great then slumped into "eh" so hopefully it pulls itself out of that rut

Friday

8 – America’s Toughest Jobs (Moving Sept 19th)Ok, one move of times I can understand
- Crusoe (Oct 17th) I bought the book and am going to read it in anticipation (since it is on my list anyway)

9 – America’s Toughest Jobs (Moving Oct 24th) But another move? They are going to lose all of their audience
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Oct 3rd) YES!!!! Can not wait!!!!

10 – Life (Oct 3rd) I rather enjoyed this show but since they tied up the major plot point I hope they find something else to drive the show
- Numb3rs (Oct 3rd) Always good as a backup show, you don't need to follow it to understand what is going on

Saturday

Nothing

Sunday

8 – The Amazing Race (Sept 28th) My favorite reality show, although this is pretty soon after the last season, not that I am complaining or anything

9 – Desperate Housewives (Sept 28th) Interesting season finally, we will have to see where this goes from here

Now a lot of the shows that seem conflicting causing not enough DVR space I have it a little lucky because shows on the major channels (ABC, NBC, etc.) play at the same time as Central (i.e. 8pm 7 central means we would get it at 7). But a lot of the cable networks play the shows in conjunction with Pacific (i.e. if it is 8pm EST, it is 8pm PST, then we get it at 9pm Mountain time). Way too confusing at first but it does break up the shows a bit more.
